Kishore as one of the members on the death row, has limited scope but performs well in the given space. The actor emotes well and succeeds in making the audience root for her, proving that she has the capabilities to pull-off women-centric movies. Priya Bhavani Shankar as Rachel has played a very convincing role of a bold journalist in search of the truth and in a race to save the two men from the gallows. It seemed like problems just kept solving on their own. With a run-time of 90 minutes, the film still felt stretched out and lacked details in the Sri Lanka portions of the second half. Such thrillers need a much layered screenplay with a lot of detailing which the writers seemed to have missed. Though the storyline has all ingredients to make it up for a successful emotional, mystery thriller, it fails to keep the audience gripped and the scenes become easily predictable. She ends up on a dangerous mission to Sri Lanka in an effort to prevent the hanging of the two men.
After watching an emotional appeal by the mother of the two men in a video on social media, Rachel decides to follow up on the story.
On her very first day, she comes across an interesting piece of information, about the plight of two men from Tamil Nadu about to be executed in Kuwait for their role in an accident which killed a woman. In the first few minutes of the film, we are introduced to Rachel Victor (Priya Bhavani Shankar), who joins as a sub-editor in a popular news channel in Chennai.
However, Sarjun has missed the mark with the execution as the film ends up becoming a slightly boring, predictable affair. The storyline of the film which deals with the concept of blood money, the plight of two Tamils stuck in Kuwait who are facing a death sentence and the emotional bond between a father and a daughter sounds really good as a script. Probably, that would have made him choose Blood Money, written by Sankar Dass of Monster and Oru Naal Koothu fame.
